Hiya,
Mister yezzirp is my name and it's so because I am quite the optimist. I tend to view a comedic perspective in everything that goes on, either around me or that is brought to my attention. This is my 1st blog and I got put on but my friend "Dirty Dee" (an alias of course) who happens to be quite smart and down with the same cool stuff I am with. I was particularly amazed at the fact that it's tied up with my google account, google is divine.
Anyways, enough about that...I can always write another blog about it. Videos nowadays is the title and this kid's views will be displayed. During the school year, I don't really have time to watch TV or catch the latest episodes of this show or that show. Now summer is here, I have time to take a breather, sit back, relax and catch up with popular culture. I wasn't totally illeterate of what was going on, but out of the loop with music videos, either on BET, VH1 or MTv. Now I'm back on track, I must say I am dissapointed at some of these videos.
"Birthday sex" was a single by this artist named Jeremih -not Jeremiah- I think he's great and has a hit on his hands. This song blew up even before it was aired or people knew who it was. People loved it because of it's content. I live on a college campus and that's what was happening. It became everyone's theme song on their birthday. But later on, Jeremih made enough money or showed potential to get some sponsorship in order to make a video. Video came out...FLOPPED! He hired a brazilian model for the video, and I guess no one really had an original idea, so the whole time Jeremih spends signing and running after her and play little games, not even kissing her or really touching her or even going along with the lyrics. I am not really asking for much, but they should have just called it "Birthday Hide and Seek".
Now, to our international import... one named Drake. Again, I'm a big fan, I like the way he raps and he's pretty sick with it. Now the video for his 1st single "Best I ever had"...garbage. It could have been done waa-aa-aay better than what it came out as. One part of the video I enjoyed- and this is my inner animalistic side talking- was when the girls were going up the stairs in tight uniforms and in slow motion... but that's it.
I wasn't just focusing on music videos, but recently the "former" artist named Chris Brown released a video on youtube (homemade) where he is promoting his new album. He is acting a fool and shouting out fans -well, what's left of them- and haters -the majority of the population. What is he doing with his life? then a couple of weeks later he was a puppet, reading off of cue cards saying he was sorry about assaulting then-girlfriend Rihanna....BULLSHIT! I didn't buy it. His actings skills are horrible, and personally that's why he got shot in the first 10 minutes of Stomp The Yard (great movie by the way). What's the point of apologizing 5 months after such horrific behavior? I don't know any smart beautiful ladies that would put up with this kind of tuggish behavior. I like how after that, people were being interviewed about their views on the video. It won't matter, he shitted on himself with that and his career is near-dead.
I wonder how Rihanna feels about that? she won't trust anyone else but Drake. Maybe she just has bad taste on picking guys who make horrible videos.
...With that said, videos are a way of communication nowadays, youtube is a monter right now and it will keep growing because everyone wants to be famous, I just hope that they are more original in making and posting better videos.
>I remain optimistic on videos, they are the future, they are our entertainment. I'm thinking this bad string of videos is just like the black plague, people will suffer by watching but it will soon pass.
